Blood and Brujas by Mikayla D. Hornedo: A Review

This week, we are chatting about ‘Blood and Brujas’ by Mikayla D. Hornedo. As part of her ARC team, I was lucky enough to be sent a copy a few weeks in advance for me to review and it was so good.

As a member of the ARC team, it was so rewarding to see her vision for this book come together towards the ARC release date. As some of you may have seen, I have already reviewed another series she has written 'The Sun, The Storm and The Shadows' and 'The Secret of the Serpent' and I loved them both so much and totally recommend you check those out too.

I absolutely adore Mikayla's waiting as always! it was a well-written novel that kept the pace even throughout. I didn't find there to be any parts of the book where it was going too fast or too slow at all and I loved getting the chance to read more into the life of the knife-happy, badass female main character Dyanara.

The plot is well thought out, with Daya navigating her arranged marriage and her own feelings simultaneously while fighting for her place within her family too. I really like the dynamics throughout the book both inside and outside of the families.

As usual, the magic system in this book is so well thought out and fully developed. I adored finding out more about their world and how the kingdoms interacted with each other. Daya, Zuri and Axel all have their own individual and identifiable outlooks and attitudes to each situation and I love how distinguishable they are.

thank you again to Mikayla for providing me with this wonderful ARC and I will be recommending this to absolutely everyone I can!

Happy Reading,

- Mei
