these infinite threads by tahereh mafi: a review

In the run-up to Autumn, my search for cosy books is on, but first I wanted to get a few of my ‘to be read’ out of the way in anticipation of some really cool advanced copies I've recently received from harperYA360. In the last couple of weeks, I finally got around to reading ‘These Infinite Threads’ by Tahereh Mafi the sequel to ‘This Woven Kingdom’ which I have also reviewed on the blog. I read this book in a total of an hour of 52 minutes on a cosy Sunday morning in a local Starbucks so that in itself tells you how much I enjoyed this book.

I've really enjoyed the first book so I had very high expectations for the second book and I can confidently say that I found it to live up to the standards. The book picks up right off the end of book one which I found very useful because it meant that you got straight into the action. I got this book shortly after release and I actually had to go back and read the last couple of chapters of book 1 to catch myself up, but I'm not complaining in any way.

Just a warning that this will not be spoiler free and I'm going to go off of the assumption that people have read book one!

Chapter 1 picks up right as Kamran sees Alizeh run through the fire and get kidnapped by Cyrus which I think is a really great way to grab someone into the book. The entire first chapter definitely packs a punch and I really enjoyed immediately immersing myself in the plotline again. the book is a dual perspective and runs between events happening on Kamran’s end an events happening on Alizeh’s end.

I found the book to be full of Weird twists and Turns I genuinely could not see coming and it shocked me every time which I found absolutely amazing. When you read as much as I do sometimes you learn to anticipate plot twists but I found that this book was completely evasive of any patterns. It's a perfect example of the Fantasy with Romance and a twist of Darkness and I absolutely love it.

Personally, I'm not all for love triangles, so this wasn't really what I was expecting; But I will say that it was actually quite well written, and I came to like the character of Cyrus quite a lot despite knowing that I probably shouldn't. I thought that at times the plot moved a little quickly for my liking, but overall it was just a really good read that had me absolutely entraped.

I'm very very excited for the final book of this trilogy ‘All This Twisted Glory’ and definitely on my Christmas list for this year.

Happy Reading,

Mei x
