Hôtel Mirabelle by bea miller: a review
I received this gorgeous novella as an ARC and I really enjoyed it. I cannot wait to get into it!
This novella... oh my goodness. I don't think anything could have prepared me for the beauty and ferocity of this story.
To be fully transparent, at first, I wasn't sure I would enjoy the direction the story would take due to the topic of death and sudden loss, but my worries were quickly erased as I continued to read. the topic is discussed beautifully and Miller is so good at explaining how it feels to deal with that grief.
The story is packed with tropes that I'm an absolute sucker for, including forced proximity and one bed... everything about the way it's written is so stunning and the spice within the plot is insane. What I really appreciated was that I could enjoy the spicy scenes without losing the nice little plot sections of the story too.
Our main girl, Ash, is such a likeable character, she gives me cinnamon roll vibes and I'm so here for it. Her growth through the story (even if it is short) is written really well and painted in a way that feels realistic too. Our main man Lucien is a softy at heart, and all of their interactions are just so fluffy. It's just two people connecting through mutual grief but you can just tell that it is more than that across the pages.
I can't wait to see more from Bea as time goes on. This definitely makes my list as one of my most heated reads of 2023.
Happy reading,
