Curse of Saints by Kate Dramis: A Review

This week I'm back to talk about a beautiful book that I am thrilled to have been able to get my hands on so quickly. I found Kate Dramis through TikTok almost a year ago and I've been impatiently waiting, but it's finally here!

This book is the first in a new trilogy and Kate Dramis's debut novel. It had been one of my most anticipated releases this year and I have to say that I was not at all disappointed. The book is written in a multi-point-of-view style that allows the reader to understand how other characters are feeling behind their appearances. This book has everything a fantasy romance reader could ever dream of:

- A handful of magic
- A sprinkle of romance
- A pinch of lies

A perfect recipe for an enchanting read that I couldn't put down!

The world-building in this book is something that I wish every book had. It is so beautifully carved out and shaped, I think that it is stunning. While reading I was annotating my way through the book and that is a decision I don't regret. I would kill to go back in time and read this again for the first time! Emotions ran heavy through the book and some scenes had me in tears, while others had me giggling, I adored every second I spent reading this book.

One of my most favourite things is a well-written romance, with good ol' fashioned mutual pinning and a twist of enemies to lovers. Kate's construction of Aya and Will as characters and not just concepts makes this book a formidable pair in the world of fantasy books. Despite it being her debut novel, the plot is well spun and the split character point of view is not confusing at all. This book is extremely well-paced and constructed in a way that kept me guessing until the end.

I also really enjoyed seeing Aya and Will interact with Josie and Aidon, the sister and brother pair. Josie's character was appealing right from the start and I adore that she and her partner Vivane have such an open and respected relationship. I also appreciated the stunning depth of Aidons character as he learned to navigate loyalty, duty, and responsibility. I love that Kate gives the emotions and moments of her characters to remember them by rather than just a name.

Overall, I would TOTALY recommend it! This is an amazing debut and I can't wait to read more of Kate's work!

Happy reading,
- Mei xxx
