I'm back properly! also The Atlas Six by Olivie Blake: A Review

Hi everyone! I think that we are finally able to get back on schedule with my posts! Schoolwork has calmed down and I'm finding time to get back to doing things I enjoy.

Anyways, this week I've gone with the book The Atlas Six by Olivie Blake. I know that this book has made the rounds on social media a few times and I was very excited when I got around to finally reading it.

My version of a plot summary is just to say that this book is about six attractive people who can use magic, they are fighting for a place in this Alexandrian Society, and they switch loyalties and lust as they go.

I really enjoyed the concept of the viewpoints and perspectives running on parallel timelines. It was something new that I haven't really seen before in a book so I found it really cool and it really engaged me. However, this also lead to the one thing that I struggled with; keeping up with the plot. Because the plot was split into many perspectives and different things were happening in different places at the same time, I discovered that I really had to pay attention to the pages and ensure that I fully understood them before moving on.

The world-building is just stunning, and everything seems to be very developed and well thought about making it a smooth and enjoyable read. I thought that the plot was also very easy to fall into and immerse myself in. The diversity within the book was also really nice. It was chaotic in the best way and it made me feel something, which is the best thing a book can do.

One thing that caught me was that I had to read the book in large chunks or I forgot what was going on and had to re-read chapters, which was a little annoying, but we got there in the end. It's not a book I would suggest to people who need something that they can pick up and put down quickly, but it is worth the read time.

Happy Reading,

- Mei x
