The Spanish Love Deception by Elena Armas: A Review

I recently finished reading 'The Spanish Love Deception' and I have loved the romance novel. I think it would be a good read for anyone who enjoys an enemy-to-lovers, fake dating romance trope, with a little spice. It is aimed at the YA audience and is less suitable for younger readers.

I read it soon after reading 'The Love Hypothesis' and if you enjoyed that, you will enjoy this one too!

Here is a brief plot summary: Catalina has been desperately trying to find a date for her sister's wedding, and she needs one soon. Her lie about her American boyfriend has tumbled out to her entire family, and now everyone knows, including her ex-boyfriend and his fiancee. Catalina finds herself in a tight spot when she realizes she has only four weeks to find someone willing to fly out to Spain with her to aid her deception. The flight from NYC to Spain isn't a short one and Catalina's family will be hard to fool, but, despite this, when Aaron Blackford offers to step in, Catalina doesn't hesitate to deny the offer. But as the wedding looms nearer and Catalina grows more desperate, Aaron Blackford might be a more desirable option than she first thought.

I absolutely loved the way that 'The Spanish love deception' was written, as it was a very realistic representation of, not only Catalina's Spanish heritage but also women in the work industry. I think that it perfectly shows the way that women are treated in male-dominated industries, like computing.

One thing to note might be that, when I say it is a slow burn romance, I mean it is a slow slow burn... so if you are an impatient person, this book might make you want to throw it across the room (like I may have done...) on a few occasions.

Overall, a fabulous book that I enjoyed reading and would definitely read again!

Happy Reading,
-Mei
